IT’S HERE. I DID IT. I BREASTFED FOR A YEAR. A WHOLE FREAKING YEAR.
Yes, I fully subscribe to fed is best: I have a child who was strictly formula fed. A child who I pumped for. And a child I have nursed/pumped. So if you are here to rain on my parade- move along…..
I spent the last few weeks weaning down my work pump because after a year, I will not have the privacy or time I have been “provided” (I use that phrase lightly) for the last year. Though we are still nursing when I am home (am and pm), this has been a far more emotional experience than I thought it would be. Finishing cleaning pumping parts, getting prepared to sell my pump bag, and storing all these pieces that have been so vital the last twelve months. I feel incredibly blessed that I was able to donate 3270 oz in the last year, I kept 50 oz to get us held over to full milk when mama is away.
Looking back at my pump log I cannot even believe I was making so much at one point! I use the “Pump Log” app
I have ordered a necklace from Milk Made Memories to hold closely to me this experience with our precious rainbow baby. This has been challenging but so incredibly worth it to be able to nurse Savannah.
